Sex Workers - Grievances

We have had a series of consultations with residents, sex workers and businesses. At each consultation, we asked people to share their individual concerns regarding the issues of street level sex work. Listed below are some of the many grievances shared by community members. This information is intended to create awareness around the impact that street level sex work has on all members of our community. Help us move towards common ground as we start to improve the health and safety of our neighbourhoods together.

Residents Sex Workers Businesses
increased traffic in neighbourhood being blamed for everything that is wrong with the neighbourhood regardless if it has been done by a sex worker because they are an easy target customers being harassed
residents being harassed by johns judgement hard time keeping female staff because of safety concerns
garbage threats businesses broken into

strangers in our neighbourhoods violence using the entrance of the businesses as a washroom
